July 3 – Not Guilty

Jul 3, 2022 | Bible Study 2022

Do not judge, and you will not be judged yourselves; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned yourselves; grant pardon, and you will be pardoned. – Luke 6:37 (New Jerusalem Bible)

Jesus tells us: My children make a hobby out of judging one another – and themselves. But I am the only true Judge. I hate seeing My children put themselves down or judge others. This is not My way for you. I gave you the ability to choose what is right. If you live close to Me and follow My teaching, the Spirit will guide you and correct you. I died on the cross so that you would be washed clean of all your sins. I gave My own blood so that you would be fully forgiven.

Jesus Concludes: So, forgive others, and forgive yourself. Let My Spirit help you make good choices and correct you when you need it. And always remember, I do not condemn My children.

Psalm 23:4; 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

Footnotes Luke 6:37: Perfection for us consists in imitating the Father, His compassion. This is His ability to be touched by the poverty and the anguish of His creatures, and to lavish upon them, what He can give. The attitude of the person who judges his brothers and sisters if the very opposite of mercy.

assage 2 Timothy 4:8: All there is to come for me now, is the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that Day; and not only to me but to all those who have longed for his appearing.

Footnotes 2 Timothy 4:8: Salvation is by grace through faith yet eternal rewards are based on one’s faithful service to Christ. This crown of righteousness would come from the “righteous judge”. Any faithful believer, us, has the potential to receive this particular crown.

Passage Titus 3:5: it was not because of any upright actions we had done ourselves; it was for no reason except his own faithful love that he saved us, by means of the cleansing water of rebirth and renewal in the Holy Spirit.

Footnotes Titus 3:5: Becoming Christian involves breaking away from the past. A Christian is called to appear as a model of an ordered and just life. Obedience from the heart is a pillar of family and social life as long as there is no opposition to the will of God but a complete rejection of dependence when a human authority presumes to replace God, disregarding the conscience and rights of a person.

Passage Romans 8:1: Thus, condemnation will never come to those who are in Christ Jesus.

Footnotes Romans 8:1: If in Christian life there is a characteristic experience, this is that of the Spirit of God working in us. There is a total transformation for those who believe in Christ, even if this transformation is more in the process than in the accomplishment.

Born Agnesë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in what is now Macedonia, the girl who grew to become Teresa exhibited a precocious religiosity: By age 12, she had determined to devote herself to service to God, and at 18 she left home to join the Sisters of Loreto. Among other things, this order taught school children in India, and Teresa arrived in that country in 1929. Taking her vows as a nun in 1931, she chose the name Teresa after Thérèse de Lisieux, patron saint of missionaries.
